Bat Removal & Exclusion in Cleveland County, NC
Bats in your attic or walls require professional exclusion — not extermination. H&H performs humane, federally compliant bat exclusion and structural sealing to permanently resolve bat entry while following all wildlife regulations.
⚠ Bat Exclusion Notice: Bat exclusion work is restricted May 1–September 1 (NC/federal maternity season). H&H schedules bat exclusion outside this window in full compliance with state and federal wildlife regulations. Contact us now to schedule your inspection and secure a fall appointment.

Squeaking or scratching sounds from the attic or walls, especially at dawn and dusk

Inspection & Colony Assessment
We perform a full exterior inspection at dusk to observe bat entry and exit points, count the colony if possible, and document all gaps and penetrations bats are using. Interior attic inspection assesses guano accumulation and structural impact.
Exclusion Device Installation
We install one-way exclusion devices (bat funnels or netting) at all active entry points. Bats can exit to forage but cannot re-enter. All secondary entry points are sealed simultaneously. This is the only humane, effective, and legal method of bat control.
Confirmation & Device Removal
After 5–7 days of confirmed exit activity, we remove exclusion devices and permanently seal all entry points with appropriate materials — caulk, hardware cloth, and foam — to prevent future entry.
Guano Remediation Guidance
Accumulated bat guano can harbor Histoplasma capsulatum, a fungal pathogen that causes respiratory illness. For significant accumulations, we provide guidance on professional remediation, including HEPA air filtration and appropriate protective measures.
Why Bat Exclusion Requires Professional Expertise
All bat species in North Carolina are protected under both federal law (Endangered Species Act protections for some species) and NC wildlife regulations. It is illegal to kill bats in North Carolina. Lethal methods, including pesticide applications targeting bats, are prohibited. The only legal and effective method is exclusion — allowing bats to leave and preventing re-entry.
Exclusion work is further restricted during the bat maternity season from May 1 through September 1. During this period, female bats are roosting with flightless pups. Exclusion performed during maternity season would trap pups inside the structure where they cannot fly out — resulting in dead bats inside the walls and a significant odor problem. H&H follows all federal and state wildlife regulations and schedules bat exclusion work outside the May 1–September 1 maternity season.
Bat guano is a serious health concern. Accumulated droppings can harbor Histoplasma capsulatum, a fungal organism that causes histoplasmosis — a respiratory illness that can be severe in immunocompromised individuals. Professional exclusion, combined with guano remediation, protects your family's health while resolving the structural issue.
