Our Spider Control Process

1

Species Identification

We determine which spider species are present. Brown recluse and black widow sightings require a different urgency and treatment approach than common house spiders or cellar spiders. We inspect harborage sites specific to each species.

2

Web Removal & De-Webbing

We remove existing webs from eaves, corners, window frames, and other areas. This eliminates egg sacs and removes the residue that attracts other spiders.

3

Residual Perimeter Treatment

We apply a residual insecticide around the foundation, entry points, and harborage areas. Spiders that contact the treated surface are eliminated. Interior crack-and-crevice treatment is applied in active areas.

4

Prey Insect Reduction

Spiders follow insects. We address any concurrent insect populations (flies, moths, gnats, other insects) that are attracting spiders into the structure.

Why Professional Spider Treatment Matters

Western North Carolina is home to both brown recluse and black widow spiders. The brown recluse bite can cause necrotic skin lesions that take months to heal and may require medical intervention. Black widow venom is a neurotoxin that can cause severe systemic reactions, especially in children and elderly individuals.

Spiders are difficult to control with over-the-counter sprays because they don't groom themselves the way insects do — contact sprays often miss them. Professional residual formulations are applied in the locations spiders actually travel and rest, dramatically increasing efficacy.

Spider infestations are often a symptom of a larger insect problem. H&H's inspection-based approach identifies and addresses the underlying prey insect population, providing longer-lasting spider control. We've been protecting western NC families from dangerous spiders since 1974.
